London, July 24 (ANI): The use of 'talking' hands of black, white and Latina women to represent female genitalia was always meant to be provocative in feminine hygiene cream commercials, but now have been branded racist by some.

Hundreds of negative comments have been posted online, with some arguing that the distinctive voice-overs adhere to racial stereotypes, the Daily mail reports.

The commercials were made with the intention of promoting cleanliness, but for many

The Summer's Eve adverts use three different coloured hands to represent black, white and Latina women.

The 'black hand' advert begins by asking: 'Why are you blowing me off? Soap? Please! You know how much that irritates my bikini line.

'You really wanna be itchy down here? Didn't think so. How about some Summer's Eve cleansing wash? Just an extra 10 seconds in the shower plus a Summer's Eve cleansing cloth before you hit the club and bam! We are so lady wowza.'

The advert ends with the tagline 'Hail to the V'.

The Latino version carries a similar theme, but this time, the talking hand gets worked up over women wearing 'tacky' leopard-skin thongs and launches into a tirade in Spanish.

Close to the knuckle: The Latina hand is the spiciest of the three

The 'white' advert is the least ambiguous, kicking off with 'Hello from Vagina Land - population 3.5billion and growing', before claiming that 'you and me should be bff's [best friends forever]'.

The targeting of separate races by the marketing department at Summer's Eve just doesn't wash for many women.

MsAngrybutterfly wrote on YouTube: "This is the single most offensive thing I have ever seen. The "Hispanic" one managed to be racist, sexist and vaguely religiously stereotypical, without coming right out and saying it, of course!"

Kduxwhat agreed, and wrote: "These commercials certainly adhere to racist stereotypes. Not pleased."

TheRocketVoltage, who said: "White women and Hispanic women, I'm embarrassed for you. I'm also embarrassed myself as a Black woman with how equally stupid their commercial was for us! When I'm concerned with the hygiene of my vagina, race does not come to mind."

However, the ads do have their supporters. Verena von Pfetten took to Twitter to ask: "What's the big deal? Summer's Eve just wants to shame your lady-parts as accurately as possible!"

Emeri Lyric also gave the ads the thumbs up. She tweeted: "Every female should have a bottle of summers eve in their shower #itsthatserious." (ANI)
