London, July 21 (ANI): The Telangana Development Forum (TDF) UK and Europe celebrated the Bonalu festival in London at Lampton School, Hounslow.
1000 Telangana NRIs across Europe attended the event. West London streets wore a festive look last Sunday as these huge crowds gathered to celebrate Telangana festival Bonalu and also expressed their unconditional support to the formation of Telangana state.
There was only one voice "Need for immediate formation of Telangana State ". There was a jubilant ambience at the event and every one opined that they saw Lashkar in London. Lashkar is a place in Hyderabad where Bonalu is celebrated fervently.
Nithin Gadkari, BJP president, was the chief guest at the event.
He used the occasion to criticise the Congress-led UPA Government of inaction on the issue of the formation of a separate state of Telangana.
He demanded that the government to immediately place the Telangana Bill in parliament in the next session itself and reiterated that the BJP/NDA will support and ensure that the bill is passed .
He also reminded everyone that NDA created three new states during their regime.
He pooh -poohed the Justice Sri Krishna Commission report, and claimed that it looked more like a report of the All-India Congress Committee than that of a retired judge of the Supreme Court.
He referred to the injustices done to the people of the Telangana region, especially in terms of water utilisation.
He congratulated TDF UK for taking up so many developmental activities in Telangana region and appreciated the dedication of its members for the cause.
Smriti Irani, the president of the BJP women wing and of 'Jai Bholo Telangana' movie fame, said that she would be the first person to wish for the formation of Telanagana state.
She mentioned that her role in Jai Bolo Telanagana movie represented every Telangana mother whose child sacrificed their life for the formation of the state. She mentioned that she was proud of the reputation that she got from that move as Telangana Talli (Mother of Telangana).
She congratulated TDF UK for its commitment towards the cause and contribution towards developmental projects in Telangana.
Vijay Jolly, the convener of foreign affairs of the BJP, congratulated the TDF team and condemned the delaying tactics of the Congress-led UPA government.
TDF UK and Europe president Kamal Voruganti delivered the welcome speech.
