London, July 17 (ANI): For Anni Dewani's family, the woman murdered on her honeymoon in South Africa, the picture of Anni and her husband taken on the plane shortly before their engagement has a special significance because it was the last time they believe she was 'truly happy'.
Sitting on a private jet, Anni was about to be whisked off to a mystery destination where she secretly hoped the man of her dreams would propose.
Hours later, Shrien Dewani did indeed ask her to marry him, presenting the 28-year-old with a 25,000 pound diamond engagement ring.
The couple married five months later in Mumbai, but in November last year, while they were on honeymoon in Cape Town, Anni was murdered by a hitman, allegedly hired by her husband, the Daily Mail reports.
For her family, the picture of the couple taken shortly before their engagement has special importance, as this was the last time they saw Anni 'happy'.
The paper revealed how Anni wanted to call off the wedding because she was unsure if she loved, or even liked, her husband.
Her cousin, Sneha Hindocha, told detectives that Anni eventually married Dewani because she felt it was too late to back out.
Hindocha also told police that Anni did not want to go on honeymoon and found out where she was going only a few days before leaving.
Anni's husband Shrien Dewani is accused of arranging the contract killing of his wife on November 13.
She was shot after the apparent hijacking of their taxi on the second day of the honeymoon. (ANI)
