Moscow, July 9 (ANI): One of the Kremlin's top political advisers has claimed that Vladimir Putin was sent to Russia by God to help it deal with its troubles in the early post-Soviet era.
"To be honest, I think of Putin as a person who was sent to Russia by fate and the Almighty at a difficult hour," The Telegraph quoted Vladislav Surkov, the first deputy administration chief, as saying.
Surkov, who serves in the administration of President Dmitry Medvedev, has worked there since just before Putin first entered the Kremlin for a two-year term as president in 2000, and is widely seen as one of his closest allies.
Putin, who is now serving as the Prime Minister, is speculated to run in the presidential elections scheduled for March, but neither he nor current president Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev has disclosed who among them will actually contest for the post.
However, reports suggest that Putin has remained the country's most popular politician.
The Russian media had reported in May that a small female sect believes Putin is the reincarnation of Paul the Apostle. (ANI)
