Multan, July 4(ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the United States was never given access to Shamsi airbase in Balochistan for carrying out drone attacks.
Gilani insisted that the US was given access to the base only for surveillance purposes by the previous government, The Express Tribune reports.
Addressing a news conference in Multan, Gilani said: "We have raised the matter of Washington's control over the base at the highest level with the US government."
According to reports, the airfield was used by the US' Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as a base for Predator drone attacks on militants in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas. (ANI)
