Nevada (US), July 04 (ANI): The Vallabh Youth Organization (VYO) is planning to build 'Krishna Bhakti Dham' (Krishna Devotion Abode) in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA.

Funds are being raised for this spiritual and cultural center; which will focus on spiritual, cultural and linguistic needs of the community. Rangesh Shah is President of VYO Scranton chapter.

His Holiness Pujya Goswami 108 Shri Vrajrajkumarji Mahodayshri, 24, is the founder of VYO, which is headquartered in Vadodara (Gujarat, India) and whose vision includes: "To bring about awakening amongst Youth...To establish Youth Spiritual Centers...".

Meanwhile, esteemed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) on Sunday, applauded efforts of Dham planners and Scranton and surrounding area community for building this wonderful spiritual/cultural center, especially focused on youth.

Zed, who is the president of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that it was important to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations amidst so many distractions in the consumerist society and hoped that this upcoming Dham would help in this direction.

He stressed that instead of running after materialism; we should focus on inner search and realization of Self and work towards achieving moksh (liberation), which was the goal of Hinduism.

Scranton, which already has a BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, was incorporated in 1856, nicknamed 'Electric City', and has been placed by Business Week on its list of Best Places to Raise Kids. Christopher A. Doherty is the Mayor. Notable people associated with Scranton include US Vice President Joseph Biden, television host Bill O'Reilly, Baseball Hall of Famer Nestor Chylak, actresses Gloria Jean and Lizabeth Scott, novelist Lauren Weisberger, Banana Republic co-founder Mel Ziegler, and poet W.S. Merwin.

Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world, has about one billion adherents. (ANI)
