Kuala Lumpur, July 4 (ANI): The Malay Indian Congress has urged successful Indian businessmen to unite and contribute to the development of the Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI).
"We must come together and have a brainstorming session so that we can put forward our requests and problems to the Government through MAICCI," the Star quoted MIC President G. Palanivel, as saying.
Palanivel, who is Deputy Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister, said there was a need to revive the entrepreneurial spirit among the Indian community, including through franchising family businesses.
Earlier MAICCI president K.K. Eswaran said it was keen to work with the MIC to enhance the spirit of entrepreneurship and establish a joint task force to address shortcomings or assistance required by Indian businessmen.
"The Indian business community fully supports Palanivel's leadership and we hope he could unite the community through new initiatives and programmes," said Eswaran.
"We hope these initiatives will be fair in addressing the needs of the various strata in society," he added.
Eswaran said MAICCI's biggest achievement was the successful approval of 45,000 foreign workers for Indian-run service sectors in the country. (ANI)
