Melbourne, July 3 (ANI): It was three on the trot for a Finnish pair, who won the country's annual wife-carrying competition this year yet again.
Taisto Miettinen and Kristiina Haapanen have successfully defended their title in front of a large number of spectators who turned out to watch the event in Sonkajarvi.
The 46-year-old lawyer, who had his partner's legs wrapped around his head, leaped hurdles and negotiated a water pool along his way in a minute to clinch the 253-metre-race.
"The course was trickier this year due to the water obstacle, which was deeper," the Age quoted Miettinen as saying.
"The weather conditions were also particularly tough, 30 (degrees) is too much for me," he added.
While Estonian rivals Alar Voogla and Kristi Viltrop came 2nd a Lithuanian couple remained content with the 3rd spot. (ANI)
