Washington, July 3 (ANI): A cousin of Indian-origin bride Anni Dewani, who was murdered during her honeymoon in Cape Town last year, has said that she wanted to call off her wedding because she was unsure if she loved, or even liked, her husband.
Sneha Hindocha said Anni eventually married Shrien Dewani, who is accused of hiring a hitman to kill her, only because she felt it was too late to back out.
The Daily Mail quoted sources close to the investigation in South Africa as saying that Sneha also told police that Anni did not even want to go on a honeymoon and came to know about the location just a few days before leaving.
Anni's 31-year-old Brit-Indian business tycoon husand, Shrien Dewani, is accused of hiring a hitman to kill his wife in South Africa last year, and is now fighting against being extradited to South Africa over the same case.
Dewani is accused of arranging the contract killing of his wife on November 13 in the outskirts of Cape Town, where she was shot after the apparent hijacking of their taxi in a township on the second day of their trip to the town.
Annis's cousin, also her closest friend, had reportedly contacted officers with her concerns before Dewani was arrested on December 7 last year. At the time he was not officially a suspect.
It is understood that Sneha's evidence will form a key element of the prosecution case if Dewani is extradited to South Africa. (ANI)
