London, July 2(ANI): Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and the British Prime Minister David Cameron have agreed that both countries will continue working together to fight militancy and promote peace in the region.
Both leaders agreed that terrorism was a menace that needed to be combatted by both countries.
The Nation quoted President Zardari's spokesperson Farhatullah Babar, as saying: "Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to prepare a comprehensive plan of action to intensify cooperation in trade and business, defence, development, education, health, security and cultural cooperation."
Pakistan appreciated the consistent support of Britain for democracy, adding, Britain had a better understanding of Asia than any other country, and was well placed to put across Pakistan's perspective before the world.
Zardari said Pakistan was endeavouring for regional peace and stability and dialogue process had been started with all neighbouring countries including India.
Zardari appreciated the Britain's role in seeking trade package for Pakistan from the European Union. Cameron assured that his country would continue extending support to Pakistan for greater market access and institutionalisation of Pakistan-EU summit mechanism.
Cameron said Pakistan had rendered more sacrifices as frontline state in fighting terrorism than any other country
He further said Britain was committed to increase 'mutual cooperation through national security dialogue.' Pakistan had very important and responsible role to play in promoting Afghan-led reconciliation and peace efforts in Afghanistan, he added. (ANI)
