New York, June 30 (ANI): The JFK airport runway was shut down temporarily to let a pack of sex-starved turtles cross the tarmac and reach their seasonal breeding grounds.
"JFK is experiencing delays as the airport clears turtles off the runway," the New York Daily News quoted JetBlue Airways as tweeting and then adding the hash tag 'cantmakethisup'.
The airport crew helped clear runway 4L of the sloth terrapins who were headed towards their natural breeding grounds in Jamaica Bay.
"Running over turtles is not healthy for them, nor is it good for our tires," JetBlue justified.
Federal Aviation Administration Arlene Salac later on said that it is required to shut a runway if 'there is any kind of object or debris on it'. (ANI)
