Washington, Feb 01(ANI): The United States has issued a "Worldwide Caution" for US citizens against travelling to multiple regions, including India and Pakistan.
The current information suggests that the Al-Qaida and affiliated terrorist organisations continue to plan terrorist attacks against US interests in multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, said the US Department of State, adding that these attacks might employ a wide variety of tactics including suicide operations, assassinations, kidnappings, hijackings, and bombings.
"Examples of potential attacks in South Asian states include Pakistan, where a number of extremist groups continue to target U.S. and other Western citizens and interests, and Pakistani government officials and military/law enforcement personnel," the US Department of State said in its latest travel warning titled "Worldwide Caution".
"Suicide bombing attacks continue to occur throughout the country on a regular basis, often targeting government authorities such as police checkpoints and military installations, as well as public areas such as mosques, and shopping areas," it added.
It noted that the supporters of terrorist groups like the Al-Qaida, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the Islamic Jihad Union and the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement were active in the Central Asian region.
"In India, there is a continuing threat of terrorism as attacks have randomly targeted public places frequented by Westerners, including luxury and other hotels, trains, train stations, markets, cinemas, mosques, and restaurants in large urban areas," the statement said.
The travel warning, issued to update information on the continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against US citizens and interests throughout the world, also said there was 'credible information' indicating that terrorist groups also sought to continue attacks against US interests in the Middle East and North Africa.
