Washington, Jan 23 (ANI): With the unemployment rate ending at 9.4 percent last year, US President Barack Obama has said his administration would focus on the economy and on ways to ensure that America remains competitive.
"My number one focus is going to be making sure that we are competitive, that we are growing, and we are creating jobs," ABC News quoted Obama, as saying in a Democratic National Committee video previewing his State of the Union Address.
The president ensured that he would make 'economy' his number one priority, and work towards generating more jobs for Americans across the country. He also said that the deficit would be slashed and the government reshaped to a more efficient level.
"I'm focused on making sure the economy is working for everybody, for the entire American family," Obama added.
In recent days, Obama's overall approval ratings have shot up despite undergoing difficult times during his presidency ranging from issues of unemployment to health care reforms. (ANI)
