'Toxic Waste Nuclear Sludge Chew Bars' actually contain toxins!

New York , Sat, 22 Jan 2011 ANI

New York, Jan 22 (ANI): A candy manufacturer has recalled its Toxic Waste Nuclear Sludge Chew Bars after tests revealed that the bars actually did contain toxins.

Indiana-based company Candy Dynamics recalled the bars when officials from California's Department of Public Health found 0.24 parts per million of lead in the line's cherry chew bar flavour - more than twice the legal amount of 0.1 parts per million proscribed by the Food and Drug Administration.

The other flavours haven't been tested, but the company has recalled those too "out of an abundance of caution."

"If consumers have eaten a lot of these bars, have been eating these bars on a regular basis, or are concerned about their exposure to these products, they should consult with their physician or health care provider to determine if further medical testing is needed," the New York Daily News quoted Ingeborg Small, chief of California Department of Public Health's Food and Drug Branch, as saying.

Because the amounts are small and the body can cleanse those on its own, consumers who ate one or two bars, probably do not need to be concerned about their exposure, he said.

Candy Dynamics asks customers with the candy to unwrap and dispose of any remaining Toxic Waste bars in the garbage. (ANI)
