Kuala Lumpur, Jan 21 (ANI): DAP Vice-Chairman M.Kulasegaran has said the Tamil Thaipusam celebration should be announced a national holiday since people belonging to different racial groups attend the event annually.
He said devotees and visitors throng the Sri Subramaniar Temple annually.
"This is another example of how the bond among the different races is shown in our everyday life," The Star quoted Kulasegaran, as saying.
Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on January/February. It is celebrated not only in countries where the Tamil community constitutes a majority, but also in countries where Tamil communities are smaller, such as in Singapore and Malaysia. (ANI)
