Ankara, June 8 (IANS) UEFA has banned Turkish clubs Sivasspor and Eskisehirspor from next season's Europa League for involving in a domestic match-fixing scandal.
UEFA said in a statement Saturday that the two Turkish clubs would not be permitted to participate in the Champions League or Europa League if the match-fixing allegation is proven since April 2007, when tougher rules on corruption were introduced, reports Xinhua.
The clubs can appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, said UEFA.
Sivasspor, who finished fifth in this season's Turkish super league, would have entered the Europa League third qualifying round while another front runner, Eskisehirspor, would have entered the second qualifying round.
