Bahraini women demand abducted Nigerian girls' release

Bahrain,Defence/Security,Terrorism, Thu, 22 May 2014 IANS

Manama, May 22 (IANS) Bahrain's women union Wednesday condemned the abduction of 300 Nigerian school girls by a terrorist group and called for an immediate release of the school girls.

Members of Bahrain Women Union met Tuesday with the UN officials in Bahrain to submit an open letter to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, expressing their solidarity with the kidnapped school girls, Xinhua reported.

Militants from the terrorist group, commonly known as Boko Haram, kidnapped the girls April 14 from a government school located in Chibok town in Borno state.

"We are sending a message to the global community that Bahrain' s women stand united in condemning this crime and we would like to see these school girls released immediately," the union said.
