Johannesburg, Mar. 2 (ANI): The Pakistan Taliban has announced a month-long ceasefire to allow the resumption of stalled peace talks with the government.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid announced a month-long ceasefire and appealed to all its comrades to respect the decision and refrain from any activity during this period.
According to news24, he said that the move comes following a positive response from the government, an appeal from the religious scholars and for the better future of Pakistan.
Last month Islamabad began peace talks with the Taliban in an attempt to end a seven-year insurgency, which has cost thousands of lives.
The peace talks were however stalled following terror attacks from the militant group on a near-daily basis.
