London, Feb. 22 (ANI): Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and opposition leaders have reportedly signed a deal in a bid to put an end to the political crisis in the country.
According to the agreement signed, a national unity government will be installed and a presidential poll will be held by the end of the year.
The deal that was concluded after negotiation by EU foreign ministers, also sees electoral reform and constitutional changes, the BBC reported.
Meanwhile, protestors continued with their demonstration on Independence Square in Kiev even after the agreement as some found it hard to trust that Ukraine's parliament had voted to reduce the president's powers.
Following the deal, the White House praised the "courageous opposition leaders who recognized the need for compromise".
UK Prime Minister David Cameron also welcomed the agreement asked Ukraine to get behind the deal and deliver it according to the timetable set out. (ANI)
