Comprehensive agreement in Vienna n-talks unlikely: Iran

United States,Diplomacy,Defence/Security, Tue, 18 Feb 2014 IANS

Vienna, Feb 18 (IANS) Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyed Abbas Araqchi Tuesday ruled out the possibility of reaching a comprehensive agreement with six major world powers in Vienna.

The talks would focus on "setting an agenda", Xinhua quoted him as telling reporters on the first day of the new round of Iranian nuclear talks.

"We did have a very good beginning," Abbas Araqchi said, "but it depends."

He told reporters after the first primary session that the atmosphere during the talks was good and the talks were constructive.

The current talks involving Iran and Britain, China, France, Russia, the US and Germany tried "to create a framework for future negotiations", said Michael Mann, the spokesman of EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, Tuesday in Vienna.

"Nobody is expecting a final agreement in this round but we are hoping for progress," said Mann. "Of course, there will be intensive and hard work in front of us."
