Abuja, Feb 15 (IANS) Seven people were killed in a road accident in the northern Nigerian city of Kano, the country's Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) reported Friday.
Nine other people were injured in the crash that occurred at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Xinhua quoted the commission's state commander Garba Ibrahim as saying. He added the accident involved 26 people and three vehicles.
The accident took place barely 24 hours after eight people lost their lives when a private bus collided head-on with a truck in the southeastern state of Edo.
Road accident takes place frequently in Nigeria due to reckless driving, bad road conditions and over packing. More than 1,000 are killed on the road each year in the country.
