Pak ex- president Musharraf challenges arrest warrant in SC

Islamabad , Wed, 05 Feb 2014 ANI

Islamabad, Feb. 5 (ANI): Pakistan's former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf has reportedly challenged the special court's decision of issuing bailable arrest warrant against him, in the Supreme Court.

Advocate Chaudhry Faisal Hussain, a member of his legal team said that Musharraf had filed two petitions challenging the Jan 31 special court order of issuing bailable warrants of arrest and the Jan 10 order in which the trial court decided to make provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) applicable in the treason case.

According to the Dawn, both the petitions have been moved by invoking the original jurisdiction of the Supreme Court on enforcement of the fundamental rights under Article 184(3) of Pakistan's Constitution instead of seeking leave to appeal.

The special court, presided by three judges had issued arrest warrants against the former president on charges of treason. (ANI)
