Roma wanted to beat Juventus at all costs, says Totti

Italy,Sports, Wed, 22 Jan 2014 IANS

Rome, Jan 22 (IANS) Veteran Roma striker Francesco Totti revealed that AS Roma wanted to beat Juventus at all costs in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at home.

The capital side beat the Serie A leaders Tuesday night 1-0 thanks to a goal from Gervinho in the 79th minute to reach the semi-finals and the Roma skipper suggested that they were more determined, reports Xinhua.

"This was a one-off match to reach the semi-final and we wanted it at all costs," he said.

"It was a victory we wanted a lot. We changed from the defeat in Turin and proved we are at the same level as Juve," he said.

Totti said that Roma still had a chance to win the Serie A title this season despite being eight points behind Juventus.

"I don't see much of a distance between us, as eight points can be a lot or a little. We are having a great campaign, they are going beyond the limits," he said.
