Washington, Dec. 26 (ANI): A prominent Ukrainian journalist and civic activist was beaten on Christmas Day outside of Kiev in the latest attack on government opponents.
In a statement on its website, the Interior Ministry said it had identified three suspects who beat Tetiana Chornovol.
According to CNN, a dashboard camera in Chornovol's car captured part of the attack on the 34-year-old journalist known for her investigations into corruption among senior state officials.
The freelance journalist suffered a broken nose, concussion and numerous bruises.
The U.S. Embassy in Kiev sharply condemned the beating in a statement, calling for an investigation.
The embassy alleged that people were being targeted for their involvement in pro-European Union protests.
Sources on various social media pages said she was hospitalized with a concussion.
The attack was the second on a Ukrainian opposition activist.
Dmitry Pilipets, a civic activist and organizer of protests in the eastern city of Kharkiv, was stabbed four times on the street by two unknown male attackers late Tuesday night, the report added. (AMI)
