London, Dec. 18 (ANI): Mohamed al Fayed, father of Princess Diana's former lover Dodi Fayed, who was killed with her in the 1997 Paris car crash, has branded the Met police's latest probe into Diana's alleged murder plot a "whitewash in a 16-year cover-up".
Met Police had recently ruled out any form of conspiracy theory linking SAS to the Princess of Wales' alleged 'assassination' because of lack of "credible evidence," the Daily Express reported.
Assistant Commissioner, Mark Rowley, had said in a letter that after reviewing police's 'scoping exercise' and its findings, he believes that there is no evidential basis upon which therefore to re-open any criminal homicide investigation or refer the matter back to the coroner.
However, the former Harrod's owner's lawyer, Simon McKay, said that his client was "disappointed" by the outcome of the investigations.
McKay asserted that the Met should never have been given charge of the case as they had every incentive to return the result we now see, as to have done anything else would have called into serious question their Paget Report of 2007.
McKay insisted that the case should have been rigorously investigated by the Royal Military Police.
McKay added that Mohamed will continue his fight to establish the truth that Diana and his son were murdered and is convinced he will succeed in doing so. (ANI)
