London, Sat, 14 Dec 2013 ANI

London, Dec. 14 (ANI): Nearly two million Tibetan pastoralists have been forcibly displaced from their own homeland amid rampant mining and river damming in vacated areas.

Tibetan officials revealed that mines for gold and copper ore extraction have been mushrooming from several years under China's nature conservation policy leading to mass displacements, the BBC reports.

However, Chinese government has repeatedly denied of reports that forced evictions are used in the relocation of Tibetan pastoralists.

The officials said that most of the displaced people are not happy and more than 130 self-immolations have been reported by Tibetans since 2008. (ANI)
