Pak denies reports of Hagel 'aid threats' over Nato supplies blockade

Islamabad, Fri, 13 Dec 2013 ANI

Islamabad, Dec. 13 (ANI): The Pakistan government has denied of reports that U.S. Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel had 'threatened' of withdrawing aid to Islamabad over the blocking of Nato supplies to Afghanistan.

Foreign Office spokesperson said that the government has already stated in clear terms that the reports that Hagel issued any threats are "misleading," the Express Tribune reports.

According to the report, Hagel had warned Pakistani leaders on his visit to Islamabad last week that if they did not resolve protests stalling military shipments across the border into Afghanistan, it would be difficult to maintain political support in Washington for an aid programme that has sent billions of dollars to the nation.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson also said that the supplies were continuing to pass through Ground Lines of Communications (GLOCs) on the southern route.(ANI)
