London, Nov. 28 (ANI): The Italian Senate has voted to expel former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi from parliament over his conviction for tax fraud.

According to the BBC, Berlusconi could now face arrest for tax fraud and paid sex as he has lost his immunity from prosecution.

The voting also determined that Berlusconi could not take part in any general election for next six years, the report added.

Berlusconi was convicted of tax fraud in October 2012 over the deals that his firm Mediaset made to purchase TV rights to the U.S. films. He has also been convicted of paying for sex with an underage prostitute and of a breach of confidentiality over a police wiretap.

However, the Berlusconi's show in politics seems to be far from over, as in his 20 years of political career, he has accumulated huge financial resources that he can throw at his political ambitions and he has a media empire that beams his message into countless Italian homes.

The 77-year old said that his struggle would continue outside parliament, but he will continue to pour his energy into leading his party, which enjoys considerable electoral support. (ANI)
