Washington, Nov. 6 (ANI): In a study of 34 countries, China and Germany have been reportedly rated as the best nations to be an expatriate in.
The study done by British bank HSBC analysed economic opportunities and quality of life for expats in these 34 countries.
According to Washington Post, despite China's worsening air quality and food safety issues, it is ranked the best for expats, followed by Germany, Switzerland, the Cayman Islands, Bahrain and Singapore.
The study revealed that worst of the 34 countries to be an expat is Egypt, while bottom of the list includes much of Western Europe, which is often too expensive for expats, apart from France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy and Ireland.
The study indicates that Germany is the best of these countries to raise expat children, while Thailand provides the best work-life experience for expats, and Switzerland has the most favorable economy for expatriates.
A map indicating the comparing economic opportunities and quality-of-life for expats indicates that the data are very favorable for expat life in Asia's developing economies, with companies paying them 15 percent more.
The report said that Middle Eastern countries tend be worse places for expats, owing to legislation that makes it tougher for foreigners to own property and because of formal and informal social restrictions that can cut back on quality of life, except for Bahrain and Qatar.
The top ten nations to be an expat in terms of economic opportunities and quality of life are:
1. China
2. Germany
3. Singapore
4. Cayman Islands
5. Australia
