Delta and JetBlue become first US airlines to allow gadget-use in-flight

Washington, Sat, 02 Nov 2013 ANI

Washington, Nov. 2 (ANI): Delta and JetBlue are reportedly the first US airlines to allow electronic device use throughout the flight after the FAA passed the new rules.

The two airlines allowed passengers to use their e-readers, tablets, and other electronic devices throughout the flight.

According to The Verge, following the FAA's recommendation that travelers be allowed to use gadgets from gate to gate, both companies indicated that they had put in applications for approval.

Delta spokesperson said that the FAA officially granted permission to the operator to allow personal electronic device use from gate to gate.

The new recommendation allows the use of electronic devices in offline mode, and the ban on using cellphones for calling or texting during take-off or landing still exists. (ANI)
