Milan, Sep 23 (IANS) Fernando Llorente scored on his Italian Serie A debut as Juventus beat Verona 2-1.
Hosts, Juventus, despite dominating the early exchanges, fell behind in the 36th minute as Fabrizio Cacciatore knocked home from close range Sunday, reports Xinhua.
Carlos Tevez, who had squandered an earlier chance, equalised in style five minutes before the break and then Llorente nodded in right at the end of the first period.
Juventus manager Antonio Conte praised Carlos Tevez and hoped the goal can boost Llorente's confidence.
"Luck isn't on our side at the moment, as the only time Verona came into our half they scored," Conte said.
"We did very well to react quickly and turn the game around. We continued to play and seek the goal, but hit the bar and went close on other occasions," he said.
"I had to rotate the squad to give everyone a chance to rest and to play. It wasn't easy, as Verona clammed up and Jorginho followed Pirlo everywhere, I thought he was going to follow him into the toilets at one point."
"We know it's inevitable opponents will try to limit your creative centres and hit you on the break, so we must learn to adapt to these situations," Conte added.
