Hollande says UN must impose sanction if Syria doesn't surrender chemical weapons

Beijing , Mon, 16 Sep 2013 ANI

Beijing, Sept. 16 (ANI): French President Francois Hollande has said the United Nations resolution on Syria must include possibility of sanction if it does not comply with Russia-United States framework to handover its chemical weapons stockpiles.

According to the framework, Syria must submit a detailed list of its chemical weapons within a week and weapons inspectors will be on the grounds of Syria by November to takeover the weapons of mass destruction.

He also said that the option of a military intervention must remain on the table.

The U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov has reached agreement to secure and destroy Syria's chemical weapons by mid-2014 and impose UN penalties, if Bashar al-Assad government fails to respect the accord. (ANI)
