Islamabad, Aug 12 (IANS) Pakistan summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner here Gopal Baglay to its foreign office to register Islamabad's concern over "continuous ceasefire violations" by the Border Security Force (BSF) across the Line of Control (LoC) during the last few days.

The step came in the wake of the reported death of a civilian following "firing from the Indian side" in Pakistan-administered Kashmir's Rawalakot town, according to Geo News.

In a press release, the Pakistani foreign ministry called upon India to uphold the ceasefire over the LoC and reiterated its commitment to the Ceasefire Agreement of November 2003.

The ministry also urged the need to abide by and strengthen existing military mechanisms to ensure that such violations do not recur.

Pakistan, the release said, is committed to a constructive, sustained and result-oriented process of engagement with India and believes that serious efforts need to be made in maintaining a positive atmosphere and avoid negative propaganda.

A bilateral ceasefire, signed by India and Pakistan in November 2003, has brought in a modicum of normalcy in the lives of thousands of people living along the LoC and the international in divided Kashmir.
