Pretoria, Aug 12 (IANS) Shikhar Dhawan smashed a record 248 runs as India A went on to score a mammoth 433 for three against South Africa A in a List A match at the LC de Villiers Oval here Monday.
Dhawan's score of 248 off 150 balls, including 30 fours and seven sixes, is the highest by an Indian and the second highest on the List A charts.
England's Alistair Duncan Brown leads the scoring charts. Playing for Surrey, the 43-year-old smashed 268 off 160 balls against Glamorgan in the summer of 2002.
Dhawan dislodges legendary South African Graeme Pollock, who scored an unbeaten 222 in 1974, for the second spot.
Virender Sehwag previously was the highest scorer for India when he plundered the West Indies for 219 in 2011 at Indore. Sehwag's inning, however, remains the highest ever individual ODI score.
The next Indian on the list is Sachin Tendulkar, who in 2010 became the first cricketer to reach the 200-mark in ODIs.
