Montreal, Aug 10 (IANS) The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has suspended the Rio de Janeiro laboratory which was expected to analyse urine and blood samples during the 2014 Football World Cup and 2016 Olympics.
WADA said the suspension became effective as of Aug 8 without revealing which requirements the lab failed to reach to lose the accreditation, Xinhua reports.
But WADA executive committee could decide on "possible revocation" of the Rio centre's accreditation.
In 2012, the lab was barred from performing isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS) tests for nine months after falsely accusing a Brazilian beach volleyball player of doping with testosterone.
