New York, August 4 (ANI): A new law states that strip joints in New York would have to alert the authorities beforehand about offering exotic dances, to get a liquor license.
Assembly-woman Aravella Simotas (D-Queens), who sponsored the bill said that the new law makes the process more transparent so that a community knows up front what kind of establishment is going to open, the New York Daily News reported.
Simotas added that if a bar offers lap dance or a pole dance with 3 inches of fabric covering the nipples, then it would be considered as an adult establishment.
Previously the bars were only required to alert authorities if dancers were fully topless, while places where performers wore barely-there bikinis and G-strings were allowed to let the liquor flow without notifying the state or communities in advance. (ANI)
