Wellington, July 22(ANI): Many Australian young adults are using pornography as a "how to" manual for having sex, sexuality health experts have revealed.
According to the 2012 'Let's Talk About Sex' survey, conducted by the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition and Youth Empowerment Against HIV/AIDS, when young people were asked to explain how they learnt about sex, 85 per cent said they reliance on internet, 69 per cent on schools and 64 per cent on pornography.
Youth Health Program Officer Christina Self, suggests that one of the reasons for the reliance on porn may be a result of the sexuality education curriculum missing what many young people really want to know how to look, act and pleasure during sex, watoday.com.au reported.
Meanwhile, family Planning WA Sexual Health Services' Schools Coordinator, Sue Dimitrijevich, told the publication that many young people who watch pornography can completely misunderstand what it means to have sex.
Both relationships and sexuality educators agreed this reliance on pornography is a reflection on the state of sexuality education in Australia. (ANI)
