Singapore, July 22 (IANS) Singapore has appointed veteran diplomat Lim Thuan Kuan as its new high commissioner to India. He will assume charge on Aug 12.
Karen Tan, who was Singapore's high commissioner to India from February 2011 to June 2013, has been named permanent representative to the UN headquarters in New York, reports Xinhua.
Lim joined the foreign ministry in August 1984 and covered several areas including Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei and the US, the foreign ministry said.
He also looked after Public Affairs and Regional Policy before taking charge of the South Asia, Africa, Middle East and Latin America Directorate, the Southeast Asia Directorate and the ASEAN Directorate.
Karen Tan joined the foreign service in 1985, and served in the missions in Paris and the UN before her roles as ambassador to Laos and as permanent representative to the WTO.
