New York, July 15 (ANI): The Afro - the hairstyle that conjures images of psychedelic swirls and flower-printed bell-bottoms - is coming back.
Stars like Solange Knowles, Questlove and comedian Reggie Watts all sport the famous hairstyle.
At Edris Salon, fewer patrons are choosing chemical-laden straightening treatments and hair-breaking extensions, the New York Daily News reported.
Celebrity hairstylist Edris Nicholls, owner of Edris Salon, said that women are becoming more comfortable with their hair textures and the styles today are freer.
He said that women are cutting it off and trying to fall in love with their hair again.
Nicholls asserted that natural short hair or Afros are easy to maintain with an easy wash and wear.
He said that black women and men get tired of relaxers and weaves, which over time leave distressing effects on scalps and retardation of hair growth. (ANI)
