China's Shandong province beats Thailand in volleyball

Ninh Binh (Vietnam), July 14 (IANS) China's Shandong province beat Thailand 3-1 on the second day of the 10th international women's volleyball tournament, the VTV Eximbank Cup, here Sunday.

Thailand had a good start in the first set leading 8-4 at the first time-out, 16-10 by the second time-out and easily ended won the set 25-16. However, Shandong rallied to beat Thailand 25-12 in the second set and kept their form in the following sets, winning 25-15 in the third and 25-16 in the fourth, reports Xinhua.

The VTV Eximbank Cup is being held from July 13-20 with the participation of six teams from Australia, China, Kazakhstan, Thailand and Vietnam, competing in the round robin format and the top four teams will enter the semifinals.

On the first day, China's Jiangsu province beat hosts Vietnam 3-2, Shandong beat Kazakhstan 3-0 while Thailand defeated Australia 3-1.
