Berlin, July 5 (IANS) Peruvian veteran international striker Claudio Pizzaro put pen to paper on a one-year deal to extend his stay at Bayern Munich.
Record breaking and historic treble winner Bayern Munich and Pizzaro agreed on a new one-year contract Thursday before departing for the training camp in Trentino, Italy, reports Xinhua.
The 34-year-old striker, who has formerly played for Werder Bremen and Chelsea, is the ninth most successful striker in the Bundesliga history with 166 goals. Besides that, he is the leading non-German goal getter in the league.
"I am 34 years old, nothing better could happen than extending my collaboration with Bayern," Pizzaro said.
The Bayern striker is good in the air and well known for his scoring abilities having scored 112 goals in 281 official matches for the Bavarians in seven seasons.
"I like Claudio, he is a very, very good player," Bayerns new manager Pep Guardiola said.
Bayern Munich swept the board last season by lifting the German Bundesliga, German Cup and UEFA Champions League titles.
