Phil Neville, Giggs join Moyes's backroom staff

London, July 4 (IANS) Former Everton footballer Phil Neville will join the Manchester United's new manager David Moyes as the new first team coach while club legend Ryan Giggs will take up a player/coach role after signing a one-year extension.

Neville, who also played for Manchester United with younger brother Gary Neville, left the 'Red Devils' to join Moyes at Everton.

Neville, who arrived at Carrington Thursday morning, is to be announced as Moyes's latest backroom appointment alongside four former Everton colleagues in Chris Woods, Steve Round, Robbie Cooke and Jimmy Lumsden, reports DailyMail.

Neville, 36, has made over 250 appearances for the reigning English Premier League champions before spending eight years at Goodison Park under Moyes.

"I'm delighted that Ryan has accepted the chance to become player/coach. His success and ability to adapt his game over a number of years gives him an unrivalled perspective on the modern game. His career is an example to any aspiring young player and I'm sure that both he and the players will benefit from his new role," said Moyes of Giggs appointment.

Giggs, 39, who is expected to complete his UEFA Pro License next summer, will also assist Moyes behind the scenes.

Giggs has played 941 games and scored 168 goals for United in a career spanning more than two decades.
