Washington , Sun, 09 Jun 2013 ANI

Washington, June 9 (ANI): US national security advisor, Thomas E.Donilon has said that US president Obama warned Chinese leader Xi Jinping that continued cyber thefts of intellectual property from US companies would damage the ties between the two nations.

Cyber security, which formed a crucial aspect of the US-China two-day summit was branded as 'constructive and positive' by the US officials.

According to Washington Post, the cyber security issue featured among other issues related to economy, environment and specifically denuclearisation of Korea.

US described the recent incidents of cyber thefts, which have been undoubtedly considered originating from China.

Donilon said that US president warned Xi that continuous theft of intellectual property would not allow the economic relationship between the two nations to grow to its full potential.

According to the report, Obama said that the two countries must arrive at a 'firm understanding' as cyber security contains no protocols for what is appropriate.

Meanwhile, Chinese leader Xi asserted that China is also a victim of cyber attacks and this issue could actually be an area for China and US to work together in a pragmatic way, the report added. (ANI)
