Johannesburg, May 30 (ANI): UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said that Syria is "disintegrating" and has urged all parties to use their influence to help stop the arms flows and persuade outside groups to withdraw fighters from Syria.
Ban said the chaos is creating fertile ground for radicalism and increasingly threatens regional stability.
He made clear his opposition to supplying weapons to either side and to groups like Hezbollah sending fighters, reports News24.
He also urged international support for a US-Russian initiative to bring the government and opposition to the negotiating table.
Ban said the conflict has "deep political roots" and won't be solved militarily even if the parties and some supporters believe a military solution is possible. (ANI)
