Dutch royals' daughters sport Spanish fashion

Spain,Lifestyle/Fashion, Wed, 01 May 2013 IANS

Madrid, May 1 (IANS/EFE) Decked out in Spanish kiddie fashion, the three daughters of the newly crowned king and queen of the Netherlands appeared on the balcony of the royal palace in Amsterdam Tuesday together with their parents and their grandmother, Princess Beatrix, to greet the Dutch crowd.

Defying the cold temperatures of Amsterdam, nine-year-old Princess of Orange, Catharina-Amalia, and her sisters Alexia, 7, and Ariane, 6, wore a spring design by the Spanish firm Pili Carrera.

They were dressed in yellow jacquard fabric with a boat-neck collar, a ribbon at the waist and fastened down the back with crystal buttons, the skirt enhanced with a flounce of tulle, the matching headband crowned with a yellow flower.

"We're excited and very grateful to the Dutch royalty for choosing our work for such an immensely important occasion. It makes us very proud," Salome Carrera, general brand manager, told EFE.

This signifies a success for Spanish fashion in general, Carrera said.

"It adds value to the 'made in Spain' label because all our clothes are made at Moss, a small community in Vigo, up in the mountains" in the north of Spain, Carrera said.
