Lahore, Apr. 29 (ANI): The four-member medical panel has said that Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh who was injured by fellow inmates, would continue to be treated in Pakistan.
Earlier reports stated the possibility of Singh to be sent abroad for specialized treatment, reports The News.
Sources said that the four-member expert panel has already informed the caretaker Punjab government of its decision.
Lahore Jinnah Hospital Principal Mahmood Shaukat heading the panel of experts conducted a thorough examination of Singh and his two CT scan reports, hospital sources said.
Sources said that Singh, 49, has severe head injuries and his operation was not possible according to the medical board.
The medical board comprises of besides the head Mahmood Shaukat, Professor Zafar Iqbal, Professor Anjum Habib and Professor Naem Kasuri.
Singh was convicted by Pakistani courts for his alleged involvement in a string of bombings in Punjab in 1990. He was lodged in the at Kot Lakpath Jail of Lahore.
According to a preliminary report prepared by Deputy Inspector General of Police (Prisons) Malik Mubashir said the accused - Amer Aftab and Mudassar hated Singh because he was accused of killing many Pakistanis in bomb blasts in Lahore in 1990.
The accused, both of whom are death row prisoners, said that they sharpened spoons to use as knives, made blades from pieces of empty ghee tin and collected bricks for attacking Singh. (ANI)
