Three car bomb attacks leave 8 dead, 50 wounded in southern Iraq

Beijing, Mon, 29 Apr 2013 ANI

Beijing, Apr. 29 (Xinhua-ANI): At least eight people were killed and 50 others injured when three car bomb attacks hit two cities in southern Iraq on Monday, an interior ministry source said.

Two car bombs exploded in a market in Amarah, some 300 km southeast of Baghdad, killing six people and wounding 30 others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Another car bomb struck Diwaniyah, some 160 km southeast of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding 20 others, he added.

Violence remains common in war-torn Iraq despite a dramatic decrease from its peak in 2006 and 2007 when the country was engulfed in sectarian killings. (Xinhua-ANI)
