Washington, Apr 6 (ANI): A majority of Americans think that the U.S. should militarily defend South Korea against North Korea, a poll has revealed.
According to a Gallup survey, covering 1,025 American adults, fifty-five percent peopled said America should use force to help South Korea, while 35 percent think that the U.S. should stay out of it.
Gallup pollster Frank Newport said "a majority of Americans, particularly those who are following the news of this situation on the Korean peninsula closely, say the U.S. should come to the aid of South Korea if that country is attacked by the North, just as the U.S. did in 1950," Politico reports.
The poll also revealed that only 28 percent of respondents said they think that North Korea would directly attack the United States, while 58 percent think it's not likely.
According to the poll, seven in 10 Americans are following the developments coming out of North Korea.
Just above the 61 percent average of Americans said they've closely followed the more than 200 stories Gallup has polled in the past. (ANI)
