Washington, Apr. 6 (ANI): President Barack Obama called California Attorney General Kamala Harris on Thursday, to apologize for his comments about her appearance, which have drawn a storm of criticism.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said that Obama called up Harris to apologize for the remark and for the distraction created by his comments, Politico reported.
He asserted that the 51-year-old politician did not want in any way to diminish Harris' professional accomplishments and her capabilities.
Carney said that Obama fully recognizes the challenges women continue to face in the workplace and that they should not be judged based on their appearances.
At a fundraiser in Northern California on Thursday, Obama had said that Harris happened to be by far the best-looking attorney general in the US. (ANI)
