Duchess Kate trademarks name

London, Wed, 03 Apr 2013 ANI

London, April 3 (ANI): The Duchess of Cambridge is having her title trademarked to prevent the name being used illegally.

The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry has applied to trademark her royal title in a bid to further cash-in on her popularity.

An application has been submitted to use Catherine's name on a "wide range of goods and services", which would include clothing, footwear and headgear.

The foundation will be used to raise money for a variety of charities, the Daily Express reported.

A spokesman for the foundation said the application will protect the foundation against other people using its name illegally.

He added that it includes clothing "in case we choose, for example, to make T-shirts in years to come, for marathon runners, etc". (ANI)
